The University of Winchester leads the Service Children's Progression (SCiP) Alliance, which is funded by the Directorate of Children and Young People (DCYP) within the Ministry of Defence, and is the host institution for the National Network for the Education of Care-leavers (NNECL).
The SCiP Alliance aims to improve the national coverage, coherence and evidence base to support military service children's participation in Higher Education. It will create a national alliance of policy makers and education leads and a central online hub to provide information and advice to schools, colleges and local authority staff across the UK.The NNECL aims to improve national coverage, quality and coherence of targeted outreach supporting looked-after children and care leavers' participation in Higher Education.
The Widening Participation Projects Assistant will provide project planning, delivery and administrative support to these high profile projects with a national reach by assisting the management team in the development and delivery of the projects main activities. Duties and responsibilities of the role will include the maintenance of website content, social media, running conferences and events, maintaining financial records, and administering leadership meetings, among other key tasks.
Previous experience should include the frequent use of strong administrative skills combined with the ability to communicate (both verbal and written) with a variety of people at all levels in local authorities, voluntary sector bodies, universities, colleges and schools. With a flexible working style and approach, evidence of a track record of managing a busy workload to achieve results and organise events is essential for the role
