Enabling our students to succeed and secure graduate employability beyond their degree is a major priority at the University and this post will feature at the heart of these developments working with the Psychology Department and some business-related programmes. Based in the Careers Service, this post will provide information, advice and guidance to current students and recent graduates to enable them to develop their career management skills, to make informed career choices, assisting them with the transition to graduate employment or further study.
The successful candidate will be part of the Careers team but spend much of their time with the Psychology programme staff. The post holder will engage staff in strategic discussions regarding the employability of their students, and design and deliver a bespoke programme of employability support giving face-to-face advice and running workshops across the academic year with first to final year students. The successful candidate will work impartially with students to enhance their employability, and contribute to central Careers Service drop-in sessions, workshops and employer events.
We are seeking applications from experienced Careers Advisers for this post. If the successful applicant does not hold a professional qualification in careers guidance or related area (e.g., DCG, QCG Careers Advice and Guidance or equivalent), the successful applicant will be required to complete a staff development qualification (funded by the employer) in the first year of employment.
The University particularly welcomes applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds for this post as they are under-represented in jobs at this level. Please be assured that all applicants will be treated equally during the selection process.
